Travelling to the sun this summer?
Finerge is Portugal’s second largest green energy producer and has been working to increase sustainable energy availability for over 25 years. You may get to see one of their energy sources if you travel to Southern Europe this summer, as the company has 90 wind farms and 18 solar power plants in over 79 municipalities in Portugal and in 6 provinces in Spain.
Day and night, 888 wind turbines harness the power of the wind, while during the day, thousands of solar panels collect the sun’s heat to generate clean electricity. Together, both energy sources can generate 2,167 megawatts of energy, resulting in an annual electricity production of 4,500 gigawatt hours. Since its foundation, Finerge has prevented approximately 1,286,000 tonnes of carbon emissions, which is comparable to 1.5 million car journeys to the Algarve for a great holiday.
Pensioenfonds PDN is investing in Portuguese company Finerge via Igneo Infrastructure Partners’ European Diversified Infrastructure Fund III.
This week, Earth Day is drawing global attention to protecting our environment and the planet. Because if we don’t do this, climate change will have serious consequences for our economy and quality of life. You’re also contributing to a more liveable world via your pension. Through various organisations, Pensioenfonds PDN invests in projects and companies that offer solutions to sustainable development challenges.
