PDN has risen to 8th place in the ranking of the most sustainable Dutch pension funds. It is an achievement to be proud of, rising from last year’s solid position when we were in 20th place.
Each year, the Dutch Association of Investors for Sustainable Development (VBDO) investigates and compares the sustainable and responsible investments of the forty-nine biggest pension funds in the Netherlands. The list is an outcome of research into how pension funds anchor sustainability and responsible investment in their governance, policy, and administration.
According to VBDO, our strong rise is the result of the ambitious sustainability agenda we drafted and implemented at the end of 2020, resulting in ongoing policy development across the board.

Achieving such a rise in the ranking is confirmation of the major strides PDN has made in recent years in sustainable investment. Our focus on sustainability is a core part of our investment philosophy and fits in perfectly with DSM’s standards and values.
We have focused on three specific sustainability themes since 2021 to increase our fund’s positive impact: A stable climate for people worldwide, responsible raw material production and circularity, and good health and well-being for all ages.
We are continuing to pursue our strengthened sustainability policy and are refining it in the light of new developments and insights.
Increasing support for sustainable and responsible investment among our members is something that is very important to us. That is the reason we are going to communicate about our actions and results even more, as we are very conscious of our role in society and also want to provide our members with a good pension in a world that is livable for everyone.
