Edith Schippers appointed as chairman PDN’s Board Published: 23-05-2019 In the annual meeting of last Wednesday, May 22, Edith Schippers was appointed chairman of PDN’s Board on recommendation by DSM Nederland. She succeeds Hans van Suijdam who has temporarily filled in the position since March 28, 2018.

Edith Schippers.jpg (1.28 MB)On February 1, 2019, Edith Schippers joined DSM. She will succeed Atzo Nicolaï as President DSM Nederland. Atzo has decided to pursue his career outside of DSM as per mid-2019. He also stepped down as member of PDN’s Board.

Edith Schippers, holds a masters degree in political science from Leiden University, The Netherlands. She started her career as a policy advisor for the liberal political party in the House of Representatives in the Netherlands focusing on health care, after which she worked for business and employers’ organization VNO-NCW with health care and labor markets in her portfolio.

Edith was elected as a member into the House of Representatives in 2003, after which she became in 2006 the deputy political chairman of the Dutch Liberal Party. In 2010, she was appointed Minister of Health, Welfare and Sports. In 2017 she announced she would not return to a new cabinet.
