Sustainability Day: Sustainable investment with visible impact Published: 06-10-2026

On Sustainability Day we pause to consider how we can contribute today to a future-proof world. For Pensioenfonds PDN, that is an important part of our investment policy.

In our impact policy, the theme of Climate & Energy is central: financial return is always the starting point, while at the same time we invest in solutions that contribute to a sustainable economy.

A good example of this is our investment in Mirova Energy Transition 5, a fund that invests in European renewable energy, energy storage and clean mobility projects. This fund focuses entirely on activities that support the transition towards clean energy.

What tangible results has this delivered? The fund invests in companies such as Zunder in Spain and Driveco in France. Both companies are developing the EV charging infrastructure needed to enable wider transport electrification growth. Together these investments resulted by the end of 2025 in the installation of almost 3,000 EV charging points by late 2025, accounting for over 166 million kilometres travelled by electric vehicles.

The impact on climate change is also tangible. MET5’s investments helped prevent over 1 million tonnes of carbon emissions in 2025. To put this into perspective, this is almost the same as the annual emissions of over 100,000 Dutch citizens.

Balancing financial and social interests
Attractive returns and tangible impact are exactly the outcomes we’re aiming for with our positive impact investing: attractive returns and proven impact. Investing in innovative clean energy and sustainable mobility solutions enables Pensioenfonds PDN to build a portfolio that creates both value for its members while also contributing to the transition to a more sustainable economy.
