It is important that our funding level is good at the time of the transition to the new pension. The higher the buffer is at that point, the more everyone will benefit. The funding level was approximately 126% at the end September 2024. The Pensioenfonds PDN Board has therefore decided to take measures to prevent that the funding level falls sharply if economic conditions take a turn for the worse before the new pension starts.
The Board has temporarily adjusted the Pensioenfonds PDN investments for this. In doing so, the Board aims to reduce the risk of lower funding levels, while still benefiting from favourable financial market developments. (Read here which adjustments the Board has made.)
These adjustments may still result in a fall in the funding level and do not guarantee that the funding level will not fall below a certain limit. Indeed, that would be a very expensive operation that in itself would be to the detriment of the funding level. But the extent to which the funding level would fall in the event of less favourable financial market developments is more limited. (Read here how that works.)
