How much pension will I receive?
The amount you will receive depends on your parent’s salary:
- This amounts to 20% of your parent’s gross pensionable salary per year, paid over 12 months.
- Do you have more than 2 siblings? In that case, the total orphan’s pension is 60%, divided equally among all of you.
- Do you have no surviving parents?
Then you will receive a double orphan’s pension: 40%. If you have more than 2 siblings, 120% will be divided equally among you.
Your other parent or guardian can see the amount on My PDN Pension.
Are you 18 years or older? Then you can log in yourself after receiving your first pension payment from us.

Your orphan’s pension will change in line with the economy
Your orphan’s pension is from your own pension pot, a pot that Pensioenfonds PDN manages for you. We invest this money so it can grow with the economy. Each year, we check whether your monthly amount should go up or down. We aim to maintain your purchasing power, but there is a small chance your monthly pension amount may decrease, even if the cost of living rises.
Your orphan’s pension will change in line with the economy
What can you expect?
Each year, you (or your parent/guardian) will receive an overview with three scenarios:
- Expected: This is the orphan’s pension you are expected to receive.
- Bad weather: This is the orphan’s pension you may receive if the economy is doing poorly for an extended period;
- Good weather: This is the orphan’s pension you may expect if the economy is doing well.

Is there a risk of my orphan’s pension decreasing?
Yes, it can, but the chances are slim. We do our best to keep your pension as stable as possible by: We do this by:
- Responsible investing: balancing sufficient return with as little risk as possible of your pension decreasing.
- Spreading financial shocks: PDN spreads financial setbacks over 3 years, so your orphan’s pension cannot suddenly drop sharply. This also applies to windfalls – your pension will not suddenly rise sharply either.
- The solidarity reserve: This is a special reserve used to prevent your pension from decreasing if the first two measures are not enough.
