You have become wholly or partially disabled

There will be a lot of changes. You may no longer be able to (fully) perform your current job, or you may have to stop working altogether. This has a major impact, not only on you, but also on your loved ones. It also has financial consequences. We are here to help you understand what arrangements are in place for you through your pension.

What should you do if you become disabled?

The UWV will inform us if you become disabled. And your employer will inform us if this results in you (temporarily) leaving employment. You don’t need to take any action. We will contact you about the consequences for your pension.

What’s always taken care of for you, in any case:

Statutory benefit (WIA)

You always receive a statutory benefit under the Work and Income (Capacity for Work) Act (WIA) until your State Pension Age (AOW age).
👉Click here for more information on the UWV website.

Partially disabled (up to 80%)?

Then it depends on your employer whether you receive a supplement to your WIA benefit.
👉 Ask your employer about this!

Fully disabled (80–100%)?

You receive a disability pension from us, which supplements your WIA benefit up to 70% of your pensionable salary.

And your pension later?

If you become at least 35% disabled while accruing pension with us, you will continue to accrue pension with us for the part for which you are disabled. This is based on the salary you had before you became disabled. The corresponding contributions are paid by Pensioenfonds PDN.

When you reach your State Pension Age (AOW age), your WIA benefit and any supplement will stop, and your state pension and pension begin.

Do you have a partner and/or children?

For the part for which you are disabled, the partner’s pension and orphan’s pension remain insured as they were before your disability. This is in addition to the partner’s pension and orphan’s pension insured for the part you still work and accrue pension.
If you are more than 80% disabled, the entire partner’s pension and orphan’s pension remain insured as they were just before you became disabled.
