What if I’m no longer around?
You’d rather not think about it, but it is important: what happens to your partner and children if you pass away? Especially if your partner does not have enough income to continue life the way you built it together.
That’s why it is good to know what arrangements there are through your pension.

What will your partner receive?
If you are still accruing pension with PDN, your partner receives a partner’s pension for the rest of their life. This amounts to 30% of your gross pensionable salary per year. If you accrued pension with us before 1 January 2027, this amount is added on top.

What will your children receive?
Children under 25 receive an orphan’s pension until their 25th birthday. This amounts to 20% of your gross pensionable salary per year.
- Do you have more than 3 children? Then 60% will be divided among them.
- If your children have no surviving parent after your death, each child will receive 40%
- Do you have more than 3 children without a surviving parent? Then 120% will be divided among all children.

Partner’s pension and orphan’s pension will change in line with the economy
Is the economy doing well? Then their pension may increase. Is the economy doing poorly? Then it may decrease.

Are you no longer employed?
Will you leave the company? Then your partner and children receive pension through your new employer’s pension scheme.
Did you accrue pension with us before 1 January 2027? Then your partner will receive that part regardless. You can also check this on My PDN Pension.
Do you have no pension with another employer? Then something is still arranged for your partner and children if:
- You pass away within 6 months after leaving employment, or
- You pass away within 2 years after leaving employment and you receive WW or WIA benefits, or
- You chose to continue the partner’s pension and orphan’s pension with us.
You can read more about the scenarios for your surviving dependent's pension under ‘Leaving the company’.
Important when living together or living abroad
If you are living together without being married or a registered partnership, or if you are not living in the Netherlands, you must register your partner with us. If you don’t, your partner will not receive an automatic notification, and the partner’s pension will not start automatically. In that case, your partner would first need to submit a cohabitation certificate while probably having other things on their mind.
Important when living together or living abroad
Then use the Cohabitation Certificate Form to register your partner with us. This tells us that you have a partner and ensures we can contact them if you are no longer around.
